Footprints
Carbon calculation in highways works is still in its infancy so there is little benchmark data at the moment to claim significant reductions.
However, through our involvement with the evolution of the Highways Agency Measurement System, we have been able to apply our understanding, influencing designs to encompass meaningful recycling initiatives.
These have included innovative ways to utilise supplier haulage.
* Leading the Area 2 Pavement Forum to realize substantial whole life value for money improvements in pavement maintenance
* Working collaboratively with the Supply Chain to develop performance improvement plans, incorporating best practice initiatives and measurement through benchmarking of performance
* Delivery of cost reductions of around 15% over three years
Innovation
* Development of a pioneering approach to loop installation
* Piloting the use of EME2 binder course to provide longevity and value especially in combination with recycled materials
* Identification of best value options to reduce congestion and support the delivery of client’s targets to reduce disruption

* Championing the use of recycled solutions reducing disposal and carbon impact of reconstruction schemes
* Putting customers first receiving numerous compliments from the public
